Last week Nate and I were asked to help with the primary activity by doing presentations of our missions and then taking the kids around to different stations. Sorry I don't have any pictures about it, I just didn't think of bringing my camera! But we had a blast! Nate brought all his cool stuff from Japan and I brought my computer to do a slide show of all the beautiful places in Italy (and the few cool things that I bought in Italy). A couple of weeks before, the kids all got mission calls to different places, so we presented to the kids who got called to our missions. After we presented, the kids went to different stations about things you do on the mission. There was a studying the scriptures game, writing letters to the real missionaries from the ward, making prayer rocks, a P-Day relay (they had to sort laundry, go grocery shopping, put on a tie or nylons, ride "bikes" (tricycle things), knock on doors, and shoot a basketball hoop), sharing their testimonies, and meeting the president and his wife (the Bishop and his wife) including having their picture taken with them. The kids had a really fun time and most of them, by the end, wanted to go to the mission they got called to, for reals. Nate and I had really fun time talking about our missions and showing our stuff. We just wished we had more time than just 20 min!
That's a fun activity. I (& Shawn) still remember an activity like that when I was in Primary.
ReplyDeleteWe did the same activity when I was in the Primary Pres. We also had a pretend plane ride where we showed a movie, "Called to Serve", and served drinks and a snack. Everything else was the same. It was probably the most fun activity we did for us and the children. They loved receiving their mission calls in the mail. Can't wait to see you guys on the 18th!
ReplyDeleteThat's a really great idea! We should do that in our Primary. I'll probably come back here for the ideas...
