Spring Break in DC! Part 1

Our last big trip before our baby is born! Our first day (Thursday, March 15th)  was basically spent traveling. We had to take quite a few breaks so I could stretch my legs and go to the bathroom. I didn't want to get too swollen and/or blood clots since I was 26 weeks pregnant. When we got to our hotel in Virginia, we were very happy with it! It was a Springhill Marriott Suite, so it was nice. And we got it for so cheap online. It also had a an amazing breakfast where we stuffed ourselves every morning. So we just spent the evening of the first day chilling in our hotel.

The next day, we took the subway (or whatever they call it there) to the Air and Space Museum. It's pretty much a "must see" museum.

The first airplane uniforms

Stewardess uniforms from the 60s

There is a plane behind us, even though you can't see it.

Interesting model of the Solar System

Replica of Amelia Earhart's plane

Giant missiles

a Spacecraft
After this museum, we met up with Amy & Jeb and their kids (Nate's sister) and went out to lunch. After lunch, we went to the new Native American museum. It took a bit for us to actually find the exhibits, but we finally did and it had some interesting things. I did have to take quite a few rests in this museum. It was getting hard to be on my feet so much.

Brent. They really liked this statue
After that, we all went to the Natural History museum. Amy, Alyssa, and I actually spent a lot of this museum on the bench. We were tired and I'm sure they've seen it a few times and I have seen it once before as well. But it was still fun and it was good to spend time with family.

A gigantic squid. Yes, it is real, but it's dead & being preserved

The Hope Diamond. It was hard to get a good picture because
there are so many people surrounding it and it spins.
After that, we said good-bye. And we thought about going to another museum, but then decided against it since it was raining and I didn't want to tire myself out too much. So we ended up going back to our hotel and just relaxed.

  2. Oh! I love DC! We are going out there in the summer of 2014. I can't wait to show my kids all the fun things I grew up with. Glad you guys are getting together with Amy and Jeb. That's great! BTW- the subway in DC is called the Metro.
