Garrisons Arrived and 4th of July!

The Garrisons came the first week of July. We mostly just played at grandma's house. She got out the pool, slip n' slide, and sprinkler one day. Unfortunately it was mostly just the little kids who played in it. I guess the bigger ones are getting too big for it!

The 4th of July was really the highlight. Logan said it was his favorite holiday! But he always seems to say that with every fun holiday! ha ha! I do really like it though because you actually interact with people in your community and we all have the same common ground of loving our country!
We started it out by going to the pancake breakfast. It's a fundraiser that lights the star on the mountain during Christmas and we go every year. And many people from Nate's family go, including Grandma Hill and some cousins, uncle and aunt, etc. So that was a fun start to our day.
Since my parents moved to American Fork, my family needed another place to watch a parade. Apparently the only decent parade in Utah county is in Provo. So we invited them to come to the Kaysville parade! Unfortunately, Nate's family was late in saving the spots so we had to squish, but it turned out ok because the kids spent most of the time on the road trying to get candy. We also got there early. Apparently where we were was close to the end of the parade route so it took forever for it to get to us, but when it finally did, it did not disappoint! The kids got a lot of candy and goodies and the highlight was Taco Time playing Imagine Dragons and throwing out necklaces. Everyone got at least 3 necklaces. They were just throwing a ton of them! JJ said "Who would've thought that Taco Time would be the coolest!" After the parade, everyone (on my side of the family) came to our house to eat. I made ribs and everyone else brought sides and dessert. Then we did Logan's 5 year old pictures across the street by the creek. I will post those next. He was hilarious! Shortly after, everyone left for one reason or another. I was a little bummed that everyone left so soon because we had bought fireworks (my first time buying fireworks) and games for the kids to play. But oh well. My parents stayed for a bit longer so we did fireworks with them. I mostly just bought fireworks that would still be cool when it was light out. The kids really enjoyed them.
Watching the parade. She wasn't too fond of getting the candy. I think it was frustrating being so little.

I don't know what they are doing in these pictures! Silly kids!
That evening, we decided to let Logan stay up late to watch the fireworks put on at Davis High. We've never done that before because it starts at 10 and our kids are little and need to go to bed. But we decided to let Logan go this time with Nate (they met his side of the family there). We actually put Logan to bed at the regular time, then woke him up to go. It was really hard to wake him up, but we finally got him going and he loved it! Nate said he was just laughing in excitement and pure joy!
 Enjoying the late night fireworks.

The next day, we just did some projects around the house. Kirk came and helped us install a cabinet in our laundry room so I can finally store laundry stuff in that instead of on the dryer! I'm very happy about it. Steve and Nate also attempted to replace a faucet in our half bathroom but as usual, something went wrong and they will have to finish it another day. I'm not sure why we are cursed with home projects but something always seems to go wrong.
