Happy Birthday Nate!

So way back in January, it was Nate's birthday! For his birthday, he wanted to go to the Troyer's Guest House again in Amish country. It's kind of like a Bed and Breakfast because it's just a large house that is split up into rooms and then has some common areas, but there isn't breakfast in the morning unless you bring it yourself. However, there are snacks and there is a fully stocked kitchen when it comes to pots and pans and dishes. We had a good, relaxing, romantic time there last time so he wanted to do it again.

I forgot to take a picture when the bed was all made and pretty.

So right when I got off work on Friday, the 20th (his birthday), we first went to Danny Boys that has great pizza, then headed to Troyer's Guest House. It was starting to snow, but luckily we made it almost all the way there before it started getting really bad. It was just a little difficult to get up the driveway and we were a little worried that we wouldn't be able to get out in the morning, but we still enjoyed our time. The especially great thing about the guest house this time was that we had the whole house to ourselves. We didn't see another human being the whole time we were there. The owner actually isn't ever there when you get there, she just gives you a code so you can get in, then leaves you a note on a table about how much it costs so you just leave a check. We stayed in the Victorian Suite again that has a large jetted tub. The room is also decorated very pretty. So we relaxed in the tub and also watched a show on TV. The next morning, it had snowed quite a bit, I'd say around 4 inches, but luckily it was downhill to get out of the driveway, so we made it out fine and didn't have to call the owner to shovel everything.

The other birthday present Nate really wanted (and needed) was a new suit. His old one isn't too bad, but it doesn't fit well and it is wearing a little. And with all the interviews and things coming up, he wanted a nice suit. So we were really lucky that Joseph A Bank was having a sale that same day! So we went and Nate found a great, tailored suit for $200! Of course, this picture was taken about 2 weeks later when he finally got to pick it up.

I was pretty tired after the guest house and the shopping trip, so I didn't end up making cake for Nate until Sunday. So the celebration continued on Sunday when I made Chocolate Syrup Cake, put candles on, and he blew out the candles. I did a really bad job of trying to make a 28 out of the candles.
Trying to eat the whole cake with the candles still lit:)

My slow camera completely missed the action shot so this is the tail end of the blowing.
I hope Nate had a great birthday because he definitely deserves it! He has always been a wonderful husband, but ever since I've been pregnant, he has really stepped it up and done all sorts of cleaning, shopping, massaging (me), etc. because I come home from work completely wiped out and I can't get everything done on Saturdays. I'm definitely lucky to have found the best husband in the world!

  1. Did you mean to write that he was in his birthday suit? I had to laugh a little about that. :)

  2. She did mean to say that. I made that joke after we got the suit and she thought it was funny.
