| He feel asleep while Daddy was feeding him a bottle. So hilarious! |
On September 15th, my baby turned 3 months old! He's finally out of newborn clothes and just in 0-3 months. Obviously, I don't have stats since there isn't a 3 month well visit, but I think he's 12 something pounds. Logan's really getting to be fun. He smiles really easily and laughs. His laughs still aren't belly laughs, but it's still cute. His smiles are big open-mouthed ones. His major milestone is that he is getting so good at playing with toys! He can hold them in his hands and bring them to his mouth. Because of that, he will play by himself for longer periods of time which makes it easier for me to get things done. He seems to be happier now that he can.
 |
| This is his favorite toy. Probably because it is the easiest to hold |
He's also really good at grabbing my hair. I always have it in a ponytail now. But I guess that makes it easy to get ready! Logan jabbers a lot more. We will take turns making noises at each other and he just loves that! He's often noisy in church now too, just happy and talking away.
We also make faces at each other. I will make a face, and he tries to copy it. So cute! He's very alert and will just stare at people when they hold him, especially if it is a new face. He doesn't smile at new people as easily, but he certainly likes to stare.
He slobbers a ton! We have to put a bib on him everyday and by the end of the day, it is completely soaked and sometimes the clothes underneath are wet too.

He had is first cold just before our parents came for the blessing. That was sad. He had a hard time breathing, especially when laying down, so one night Nate and I took turns holding him upright on our chest during the night so he could sleep. During the day, I held him so he could nap. The humidifier just wasn't cutting it. But that day and night were the worst. He slowly got better after that and when Nate and I got sick a second time, he luckily didn't catch it that time.
The week of his 3 month birthday, he decided he would rather be awake at night, enjoying my company, than sleeping. He was waking up once every 1-2 hours during the night and taking forever to finally go to sleep in the evening. He would be asleep for about 15 minutes, then wake up so we would go in and put his binki back in or even pick him up to rock him. After 5 days of that, I was not a happy mom. So we decided we needed to do some sleep training. I will blog about it in more detail later, but I'll just say we decided to let him cry when he was supposed to be sleeping, and then I would go to him twice a night to feed him. He is still little enough that he needs to be fed at night. After a couple of nights of this, he was back to the kind of sleeping he was doing before and I was feeling so much better! The only difference is that we try to get him in bed between 7 and 8 instead of 8:30-9:30. He still has short naps, generally around 45 minutes long, and has about 3 or 4 naps a day.

| This certainly shows his size! |
Breastfeeding is still a struggle. There were times when I didn't have to supplement with more formula, but now it's just at night when I don't have to. During the day, I always have to give an extra 2 to 4 ounces. And often, he just refuses to even try to breastfeed. He acts like I'm trying to poison him! He might be weaning himself away from the breast. I really hope I can keep going until he is at least 6 months old though. I just need to be more consistent at pumping, otherwise, it's not going to happen. It's hard, because I know breast milk is better for my baby, but he really doesn't make it easy!

I was trying to get a picture of him clasping his hands, which is a new thing he's been doing all the time |
 |
| "What's that thing you're holding, mom?" |
 |
| There it is. That's what I wanted |
All-in-all, he is very happy baby and rarely cries as long as he is fed and gets enough sleep. He does still get bored easily, but as long as I move him around the room (swing, gym, couch, me) periodically, then he does well. And when Nate can take a break to play with Logan when he's home, that is always nice. We certainly love our little guy!

Playing in his gym. He hadn't ever noticed the mirror on it until one day, I came out of bathroom and found him looking at it and talking to himself! So cute! |
I LOVE those cute little baby noises!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's teething hence the slobber and sleep changes. Guess we'll see!
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! He reminds me SO much of Nate as a baby! I can't wait to see him in December.
ReplyDeleteNicole just told me something that I never knew as a mother of 4 kids! At around 3 months old, babies saliva glands start working better so a lot of people think their baby is teething when it might not be the case. Around 3 months babies get a growth spurt too so sometimes waking up more at night might mean he wants to eat more...OR it's just something else! Sometimes you just never know!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! It sounds like you're doing everything right. LOVE the pics!! He is SO cute!!
Logan is so cute! It's good to hear you're figuring things out. Spencer also started refusing the breast about that age. I think he started realizing how easy it was to get the milk from the bottle and preferred that. Good luck! Just follow your heart and don't stress out about what society says you should or shouldn't do. Just do what works for you.
ReplyDeleteWe just started sleep training last week, too! It makes things a lot easier, doesn't it? Oh, and Preston is going through several bibs a day as well!
