Logan's Baby Blessing (and Family Fun!)

For Logan's blessing, both Nate's parents and my parents were able to come. I was so excited to have family come. I hadn't been outside of Canton since before Logan was born, so I was excited to get to do things and of course I was excited for Logan to meet all of his grandparents and for them to meet him. He was a good baby and gave them all lots of smiles! So I was glad about that. They just weren't able to catch those smiles on camera because he never performs well for the camera. I didn't do a very good job with taking pictures, so most of these are from my in-laws.

Nate's parents came first so the first full day that they were here, we went to Amish country. We drove through it all first, then on the way back we stopped at some places and walked around a few stores. Whenever I go to Amish country I always wish I had more money. They have so much nice, handmade stuff for decent prices. And I like supporting them because they are good people who work really hard. Our last stop was a cheese factory. They gave us a tour, but we were too late to actually see the process. They were already done making cheese for the day. Apparently, they are the only cheese factory that gets all of the milk from hand-milked cows. After the tour, we got to go and taste all the different kinds of cheeses. That was definitely my favorite part of the day! There were so many kinds and almost all of them were really good! They even had cream cheese fudge, which was divine! Of course, we had to buy some cheese and fudge and so did my in-laws. We also got cheese curds (squeaky cheese). I was craving those when I was pregnant and didn't know where to get them! Who knew that we actually did have some about an hour away? So I finally got to fulfill that craving.

The next day, we went up to Lake Erie. Another place that is about an hour away (maybe more like an hour and a half). We actually hadn't been there yet and I had never been to any of the Great Lakes (unless you count Navy Pier in Chicago). So we found a nice beach, had a picnic, and just chilled. I stuck Logan's feet in the water, but he didn't like it so we took him back to grandma and grandpa and Nate and I skipped some rocks (after many tries, I finally started getting the hang of it!). We didn't stay too long because we didn't want Logan to get sunburned. I got a hand-me-down swimsuit from one of my sisters for Logan, so I figured I would put him in it even though I knew he wouldn't be getting in the water. That way, at least it got used once! The hat is also from one of them.

With the hat on, it's a bit big. Size 3-6 months
This is my favorite! Such a sad face!
That night, my parents came (late). I just picked them up from the airport and dropped them off at their hotel. And the next day was Sunday! The baby blessing! The reason they all came. Logan was quiet and good during the blessing and Nate did such a great job. He was really nervous, but of course he followed the spirit and gave a great blessing. We took some pictures after church. He was about 11 weeks old at the time.

For some reason, Logan had the same look on his face the whole time.
Not happy, but not sad.

The next day was Labor day and we had both sets of grandparents so we went to the Cuyahoga National Park. We first checked out a little lake called Kendall lake, then we went to The Ledges. I had heard about the Ledges before from people. They said it was cliffs so I really wanted to check them out. Cliffs in the flat state of Ohio? And there were! It was different than I expected though. It was more like a very large crack, probably caused from an earthquake many many years ago. But it was really pretty! We had the stroller with us and forgot to bring the baby carrier so we couldn't do the whole hike, but we did enough to see what the hype is. Nate and I are hoping to go back this weekend with the baby carrier to do the whole hike.

These are on top looking into the crack, we did hike down it
a little ways, but it got too rocky.
The next morning, Nate's parents left so they could go see Nate's sister's family in PA. Nate had to stay home to study, so my parents, the baby, and I went to Amish country again. I knew my parents would be interested in going since they hadn't ever been before. We visited some different shops than the ones I went to before. However, we still went to the cheese factory. This time we went earlier so during the tour, we actually got to see the cheese being made. We got to try all those cheeses and bought more cheese and cheese curds. It was great!
The next day, my parents had to leave so they could go to my sister's family in Arizona. My nephew was getting baptized. But we loved having everyone here and hope we can have company here again!

  1. Oh fun! those cliffs look so cool and GREEN!! Glad to see Logan got to wear that swimsuit once. I have a few more clothes you might want if you still need clothes. I wish I thought of it before mom came out to visit.
