Memorial Day

So behind!

For Memorial Day this year, we first went to see Nate's grandpa's grave. There were cousins there, Grandma Hill, an Uncle and Aunt, and Debbie & Karl's family. Steve and Nancy were in the Northwest visiting Gina & Stephanie's families. It was fun for me to start meeting Nate's family. I mean, I met some of them at the wedding, but you know how that goes. When you are the bride & groom you really don't get to have conversations with people, they just quickly pass through the line and if you didn't know who they were before, you probably won't remember they were there. And then we left for Ohio so quickly that we just haven't had a chance to meet much of our extended families. So anyway, I was able to actually talk to some and put some names with faces so it was good. Logan especially enjoyed playing with pinwheels that people had put by some graves.

After that, the others went on to see other graves, but we headed on to Tooele to spend some time with my family. Missy and her family were going to come, but they had car trouble and had to turn back so it ended up just being us and my parents. We went up the canyon, drove around a bit, then found a place to cook hot dogs and eat dinner. When we got to the fire pit, it was still hot so my dad was able to start a fire without using anything except newspaper. Kind of scary that someone would leave it like that! But it was actually a blessing because my dad forgot to pack the matches!

After the yummy dinner, we walked around a little bit to let Logan explore nature. We haven't ever gone camping with him and have rarely gone on hikes so our child is a bit nature deprived, besides backyards and parks. It's nice being back in Utah where canyons are plentiful and so close!
