Nate's a Lawyer!

May 19th, Nate was sworn in as an official lawyer! We can now say, Attorney Nathan Summers. The ceremony wasn't too long. Nate a lot of people supporting him. Both sets of our parents, Nate's grandma, Karl & Debbie, Cindy & Jillian, Logan and I. The Utah Supreme Court Judges sitting in front and one of them spoke. And there were a couple of other speakers as well. One woman talked about how she started as a document reviewer (just like Nate! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Nate got a job just a week or 2 before the ceremony as a document reviewer for a company called Orange Legal Technology. They aren't actually a legal company but they get hired by law firms or sell their technology to law firms). She did some pro-bono work and finally worked her way up and is now a judge! They also talked about what an important event it was and how much work it took for them all to get there. They even had the new lawyers turn around to make eye contact with their families to thank them for all of their help in getting them through school. We got there early and were lucky enough to have Nate sit right in front of us so he didn't have to look far. I mean, if you think about it, I did sacrifice being able to teach in my own classroom and being away from family so that Nate could be a lawyer, but it was a small sacrifice since things will be better for our family in the future.

Near the end, they read each of their names and they quickly stood up and sat down when their name was read, and then had them all stand so they could repeat back the oath. The oath talked a lot about ethical things that the lawyers needed to do.

After the ceremony, the lawyers picked up their BAR cards and paperwork and the guests grabbed a mini sandwich and cookie. It was really crowded so we went outside to wait for Nate. While outside, Logan entertained himself by taking pictures with the camera. Some of them didn't turn out too bad!

We did it!
These next 5 are all pictures Logan took. I deleted the ones that were really bad.

After the ceremony we went to Crown Burger for some lunch and to celebrate! Then the men went back to work and the women headed home.
