Logan's 3rd Birthday!

Logan has been really into dinosaurs and I gave him a choice of a few themes, and he chose dinosaurs! The funny thing is that a new Jurassic Park was coming out, so right after I went shopping for decor (Paper plates, etc), dinosaur stuff was everywhere! I just missed it. Oh well.

We decided to invite all the Utah families so I knew I needed to come up with activities that kids of many different ages would enjoy. So we did a dinosaur egg hunt. Unfortunately, we didn't have very many eggs because I couldn't find ours in storage, and you can't buy Easter eggs in June, so we just had Nancy's. Each kid only got like 3 eggs. But I really stuffed them with candy. The little kids were especially antsy as they waited for me to hide the eggs. We also did a Dinosaur toss (I drew a T-Rex on a box and cut a hole in his mouth and sewed some bean bags). The kids had fun with that for a bit.
Not a good picture, so I don't know if this was the egg hunt or the dinosaur toss.
I think the favorite activity was digging for dinosaur bones. I found some sand toys that were dinosaur skeletons and hid them in the Summers' sand box and the kids had to dig to find the bones, then put the skeletons together.

We had a lunch which was just pizza, fruit dinosaurs, and a salad. The dinosaurs took way too long for me to make but they really turned out cute. I did cupcakes instead of cake so Logan wouldn't get spit on everyone else's pieces when he blew out the candles.

And we did presents.

From Avery, a Jurrasic Park dinosaur and guy

From Grandma and Grandpa Summers, a punching bag with gloves
From Kylie: dinosaurs

From mommy and daddy: a basebal/golf set

From mommy and daddy: a train set
I didn't get pictures of everything that he got. Grandma and Grandpa Davis couldn't come (I can't remember why now), so they gave him his present early. It was a Fire Fighter Dress up. So cute!

Singing to the birthday boy!
Blow out the candles!
We had a fun time and it was especially great to spend time with family! Logan just loves his cousins!

As for Logan, he is our happy boy! People will often comment about how he always has a smile on his face and just always seems to be having a great time! He really is a sweetheart, especially with his little sister. I have heard from so many people that it really should be called the terrible 3s instead of 2s, but Logan is getting easier. He can play by himself for short amounts of time now, but I still have to be in the same room as him. He is a little jabber mouth and talks incessantly, (sometimes drives his introverted mother nuts) but he has a cute voice. He does not nap anymore and hasn't for a long time now. That's just always been his way! Dropping naps early! He sleeps in a big boy bed (Mickey Mouse comforter), and has since before Kylie was born and didn't struggle with the transition. He still can't sit and watch an entire movie, so I can't even do much of a quiet time. He's just a busy guy! His favorite colors (at this point) are orange and red. He is a good eater for a 3 year old, so we are thankful for that. He will usually try things and likes a lot of fruits and vegetables. But his favorite things are probably chocolate milk, pizza, chicken nuggets, and peanut butter sandwiches.

  1. I thought it was funny how you said you made cupcakes so he wouldn't get spit on the cake. Good idea!
