Christmas!

This year, we did Christmas Eve at the Hancocks. We got there pretty soon after lunch. Tiffany came later since she had just had her baby. My mom was already there because Tiffany had just had her baby. We had an early delicious dinner. Then the kids opened up their presents from Grandma and Grandpa Davis. Logan got a doctor dress-up kit and Kylie got some penguin bath toys and a cute outfit. They both love them!

The kids then went off to play and the adults played our annual $10 gift exchange. We play a game with it where you can either choose something from the middle to unwrap or you can steal someone else's gift that they unwrapped. We got Bananagrams and something else.

We then did our Christmas program where the kids dressed up and "acted" out the nativity story and then there were a few musical numbers and we sang some Christmas songs. Grandma gave us a surprise family book that she had made about Christ. We have been reading it for Family Home Evening. She asked permission from the church if she could use pictures from their website and they said yes so she has some beautiful pictures in there and wrote out the story of the life of Christ. Missy and Shawn were giving to us this year, so we opened the present from them. They gave us each a shirt and some dehydrated strawberries for our 72 hour kits. Both were things that we needed.

After that, we left so we could do Christmas morning at our house with just our kids. We decided it is time to do our own Christmas family traditions. We put milk and cookies and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer then immediately put the kids to bed (they both fell asleep in the car since it was late). Then we watched the Christmas Carol as we waited to make sure that the kids were asleep, then Santa came. We woke up pretty early, not extremely early, Christmas morning.

After playing with Santa toys for a bit, we opened the gifts from family going youngest to oldest.

From mommy and daddy, Logan got some play food that I made with love out of felt and some dishes that we bought. He often likes to pretend to cook for me, so now he has some food for that.

After eating breakfast and giving Kylie a morning nap, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Summers' house. We let Logan bring one of his gifts over to play with. While there we opened up more presents. Logan got a Kids Sequence game and Kylie got a gear table from Grandma and Grandpa.

We played a present game. Grandma Summers buys little gifts for everyone and makes up a story and we have to pass the presents right or left whenever she says those words in the story. Then we open the present that we end up with. The kids all got little nerf guns this year, except Kylie. She got a fun toy that I don't know how to describe.

We had a yummy early dinner and the kids just enjoyed playing with each other and their new toys. Unfortunately, the evening ended on a scary note. Logan had some blood in his poop and this was the second time that day, so I took him to Wee Care (they are open after hours for such emergencies). They said he checked out fine but wanted to get a sample so they could know just what it was. They gave us a kit and I tried to get a sample that night, but there just wasn't very much so I decided to wait to try to get it the next day. Well the next day, he never had any problems. So I wasn't ever able to get a sample but I'm assuming his insides just got irritated from some diarrhea issues and it healed all by itself.

Other than that, we had a great holiday. And I enjoyed doing the Christmas morning with just our family. I felt like I could focus on them better and it wasn't so crazy.
