Hogle Zoo and Camping

I totally missed posting this, but back at the end of February, we went to the Hogle Zoo. During the winter, they have one free day a month and this was the last one so we had to go. Well, I think everyone else in Utah had the same idea! Ha ha! (I later found out that Tiffany was there earlier!) The weather was also nice so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Anyway, I circled the parking lot forever waiting for someone to pull out all the while Kylie is crying and Logan is saying he needs to go potty so bad! There was parking way down the street (both sides were just filled) but I didn't want to have to walk that far with 2 kids and no Nate to help. We finally got one and ran in, looking for a bathroom. Of course, by this time Logan gets sidetracked with looking at animals and doesn't care to go anymore. Go figure!

Picture by the famous lion. I swear they had this when I was a kid. But it doesn't work anymore.

Just enjoying things in the stroller.
It started out stressful, but we did have a fun time. The indoor enclosures were insanely busy, but out in the open, it wasn't too bad. My favorite thing was the elephants. There was a baby elephant who was playing around. Pushing a huge "toy" that no human could push! It was already so strong! I can't remember what animal Logan liked the best, but it might have been the otters. They were swimming really fast and he watched them for a long time. I'm not sure how much Kylie was enjoying things. She didn't seem to really notice the animals.

Sometime around this time we decided to go "camping" in our basement. This is pathetic, but it was actually the first time we have ever set up the tent we got from our wedding. It was bigger than I thought. The 3 of us fit comfortably in it. We were doing it as kind of a test run to see if we wanted to try it for real in the summer. Kylie slept upstairs in her crib. We didn't want to try having her sleep with us. We ate hot dogs for dinner and s'mores for dessert (cooked in the microwave). Logan was, of course, very excited about it all and was a little crazy when it was time for bed. We brought the laptop down and turned on Megamind to calm him down, hoping it would put him to sleep. Well, it didn't put him to sleep, but he did calm down. He actually slept quite well once he fell asleep and I realized I'm getting too old to be sleeping on the ground for long periods of time. But it's not too big of a deal for one night. And we made some good memories!
