Logan's 4th Birthday!

On Logan's actual birthday, Grandma and Grandpa Summers took him to Toys R Us so he could pick out his own present! He was so excited to go out with just his grandparents. He chose a car the lights up and makes noise and gun that shoots dart things.  Then they met us at Pizza Pie Cafe and we all had dinner there. Then we came back to our house and did cake and ice cream and Logan opened his family gifts. He got some Lego Juniors from us and cat stuff because he has been dying to get a pet! We will get one after Nate's family has come and gone for their summer fun so that way we can be home with it.

I think these pictures are of him opening presents, but they're a little weird.

I decided to do things a bit simpler and did a friend party instead without providing a lunch. We invited Logan's Sunbeam class and all were able to make it except for 1 so there were 5 3-4 year olds. Logan really wanted a PJ Masks party and I thought it would be fun to have a water party so we did both. The decor was only the cake and balloons. I did it while Kylie was napping in the morning (because she still has 2 naps a day. What a blessing!).

The "gathering activity" was just some PJ Masks coloring pages and a plate of fruit. After everyone got there and had a chance to color, we went outside to do the water games. I had 2 games. One was just a relay where they fill up a cup of water, carry it to the other side, and dump it in the bucket and whichever team filled their bucket first, won! Well, most of them were more interested in climbing on our little playground thing instead of the game, so it died really fast. Bryce and Logan wanted to play, but no one else did. So I tried moving onto the next game. This one was just a pan in the middle and the kids would take turns rolling a dice and if it landed on a one, then they would hit their hand in the pan and try to splash. Once again, the game died really fast. Logan and Bryce seemed to be the only kids interested in playing games. I was a bit bummed about that, but decided to just let them play. Then they came inside (they hardly got wet at all) and opened presents and ate cake and ice cream. Unfortunately, one of them has a red dye allergy and Logan chose to do a red velvet cake! I felt bad about that. At least I had chocolate ice cream. No red dye in that. After that, I just let them play downstairs. That's where our toys are and that's what they were dying to do anyway. I guess I didn't need to plan any games! They would've been perfectly happy to just play downstairs the whole time! I think it was a first birthday party for all of them so they just didn't know what to expect. And they are all the oldest child in their families except one. I didn't get many pictures because the games just happened so fast, but here is what I did get!

Opening a present

The kids were all excited about the gifts, so I couldn't get any good pictures

Eating the cake
I think they all had a fun time and I hope the mothers enjoyed the 1 1/2 without their child (or children in the case of the twins).

Logan at 4

He loves to help out.
He is still the most social boy I have ever met. He can't go anywhere by himself (including upstairs or downstairs). However, he can finally play by himself for about 10 minutes, if I'm lucky. I just have to start out playing with him and wait until he gets really into it, then I can move away.
He is really into electronics and is actually quite good at playing many games that are designed for much older kids.
He can count to 12, then he starts getting mixed up and says numbers out of order. But here's a funny story. At his 4 year old appointment with the doctor, he asked Logan how old he his and Logan said something like "14!" The doctor made a cute comment about how smart Logan was.
He knows some of his letters. He can spell his name out loud but he can't write it yet.
He knows his colors and shapes.
He is a tease and still needs to learn when it is ok and when it is not ok to tease. He is getting much better at not hitting! Hooray!
He is super smiley and happy and will play with anyone who is willing to play with him. I love that about him. When he is older and in school, his teachers will appreciate that.

We love our Logan! It's got to be tough to be the guinea pig child, but he's handling it well!

  1. At first I was thinking, "Why don't I remember this party?" and felt bad, but it was friend party. Glad it went well!
