First day of School and other August Happenings

Amy came to town for a bit to Brent to UVU at the beginning of August. She wasn't able to stay long, but we were able to hang out there a bit while she was here and we went to Pizza Pie Cafe.

Logan lost his first tooth on Aug 21st! It took some time for him. His other tooth was growing in behind it and it wasn't even loose. So the dentist had to pull it and he pulled out the one next to it as well. He was a trooper and did awesome at the dentist office. They gave him the teeth in a little tooth container and he put it in his pocket. He showed it to grandma and grandpa when we went there to pick up the other 2 kids and then he played on their swingset for minute. While playing, he dropped his teeth and we couldn't find them. So he had to write a note to the tooth fairy about them.

School started up. My first year in 4th grade and this year, I am splitting the days differently with this different partner teacher. I teach Mondays and Tuesdays and she teaches Wednesdays and Thursdays and then we switch off Fridays still. This means, I have to teach all of the subjects. I'm pretty nervous about teaching math since they don't use the Advantage Math program that the district uses. They have made up their own. But that means, I don't have any lesson plans to go off of and I haven't had any training! It makes me nervous, but I will do my best.

Logan is in first grade and loves his teacher, Mrs. Ortiz. He has been doing great so far with behavior, so I am hoping that continues and I am hoping he can catch up with his reading. I tried over the summer to do some schooling, but some days we did better than other days.

Kylie will be doing a playgroup/preschool with a few neighborhood kids. The moms will just take turns teaching it once a week. I think it will be good for her to get that practice being around kids more since she can be really shy.

Just as a side note, on the first day of school, there was a crazy hail storm right when it was time to pick up Logan from school. Luckily, the worst of it didn't hit until after we got home, but it was coming down hard and fast! So weird for a day that is normally hot!

Soccer started up again. Nate is coaching. They were begging people to be coaches up until there was only a few weeks until soccer started, so Nate volunteered. He had his first practice and it was a little crazy with these little 6 year olds. They don't always follow the drills exactly as he wants! Their first game was a little rough too. They struggled with how long the game time was and got tired.

And here are some random pictures from the month.

Kylie needed a picture since Logan got one of his lost teeth

And cute Ethan couldn't be left out either
Ethan's first time sitting in one of these big Target carts. He loved it!

Kylie got new sunglasses (her other ones broke) and a hat from Jillian. She had to show them off.
