This is my first blog post, but I thought since this is the first time that we've celebrated her birthday together that I would make a post for her. I've been so excited all week to celebrate her birthday and I can hardly wait for tonight when we can spend all evening together with no law school or any other distractions. I hope it will be a good one for her.
Mandy is turning 25, and the big joke between us is that now to put enough candles on her cake we have to use two packages! That has got to be a big mile stone! I wish that we were closer to family so we could celebrate with more people, but it will be nice to have the evening together.
The main purpose for this post is to tell everyone the reasons why I love my wife so much. There are many reasons I can list but I will stick to 10. In no particular order:
1. I love Mandy's sense of humor. She laughs often and always seems to be having a good time no matter the situation. She even laughs at my dumb jokes, even though she hears them over and over. I also love her laugh. It is very distinct to her and I love to hear it.
2. I love the spiritual side of Mandy. She served a mission and we love sharing missionary experiences with each other. I really enjoy the spiritual insights we get as we read scriptures or general conference talks. We've been teaching primary together and it is nice to hear her bear her testimony to the kids every week.
3. I love how supportive Mandy is of me. Anybody will tell you being the wife of a law school student is not easy. Most of the household chores fall upon her shoulders. She has to work to support us financially. Most of my evenings and much of my Saturdays are spent studying. It's not the ideal situation for a newly married wife, but she handles it with a great attitude and a smile on her face.
4. I love how willing she is to do things for me. There will be times that I'm about to do something and she has already done it. She often willingly will make my lunch for school and wake up with me even when she doesn't have to. I know that she would do just about anything for me even though I don't make her.
5. Mandy is very easy going. We don't have to being doing things constantly. She cares more that we spend time together than what we are doing together. We can have a good time watching a movie or playing a game at home. We don't have to be talking constantly either. Both of us are content having a little bit of silence.
6. I love how great Mandy is with kids. She just attracts them where ever she goes. Sometimes they love her too much and are all over her, but she is very patient with them. Teaching primary together has also shown how well she handles kids even when it is not an easy situation. She will be a great mom someday and that is something we are both looking forward to.
7. I love that Mandy and I have similar values. We didn't have to change a lot when we started dating or when we got married, to mesh values and standards. We were both raised by great families and it shows!
8. I love how completely comfortable Mandy has always made me. From the very first time we started dating, it has been easy for us to make conversation with each other. As we continued to date, we just kept getting more comfortable around each other. I never have to walk on eggshells around her. I can just be myself. I can't even imagine us getting into a big fight.
9. I love how Mandy likes to have new experiences. She went on a mission. She loves to travel. She was willing to move to Ohio. The list goes on.
10. Last but not least, I love how beautiful she is. Sometimes I look at her and can't believe she is my wife. I particularly love her hair and her gorgeous brown eyes. I enjoy showing her picture to everyone I meet.
Like I said this is not a complete list, but it gives you a general idea how much and why I love her so much. We get along great. We were definitely made for each other, and I am glad I get to spend eternity with her. Happy birthday Mandy!! I love you!!
