Summer Time!

The Museum of Art
So once summer started, and the weather finally started acting like summer, we decided to have some fun (This was the end of May). Our first stop...Cleveland. Even though we only live an hour away, we still hadn't really seen Cleveland. We'd just gone to the airport way early when it was still dark out. So we did some searching for free things to do there and found this Museum of Art so we decided to check it out. After going through a long maze to actually get to the Museum part, I was a little worried it wouldn't be so great after all. But it turned out to be awesome! They had a special Japanese art display, which Nate absolutely loved since he served his mission in Japan. It brought back memories for him and it was cool for me to see what really was Japanese and not Chinese, because sometimes those get all mixed up for me. But for some reason I never took a picture of any of those. Whoops!

Then it took us through all the different time periods of art. And there were some pretty famous artists! I just don't remember the names of these actual paintings because these were not some of their more famous ones. But you can tell they have the same style as more famous paintings.
I'm sure you recognize the ballerinas that Edgar Degas painted

The famous impressionist Claude Monet

Vincent van Gogh. Same swirls as in Starry Night

Pablo Picasso. Definitely Cubism here.

Becky's all time favorite: Rothko

The famous painting from Jackson Pollock

This was probably Nate's favorite. Some woman painted Homer Simpson.

Of course we all know who did this one! Andy Warhol

We were about to leave when I saw this. Georgia O'Keefe.
We didn't have tons of time to really look at everything because afterward was a fireside put on by the BYUAA Cleveland Chapter, which I am the secretary for, at a local Cleveland church. So we had to quickly eat and get there in time to hear Brad Wilcox speak. He talked about the blessings that we have from belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, aside from spiritual blessings. For example: longer and healthier lives, better quality of life, and better marriages. As always, he was really funny and had us laughing pretty hard at times! It certainly was a great Friday evening and Saturday was great too! But I'll blog about that later!
Oh, and to clear up some confusion from my last post, we don't have a gym pass (we are too poor), but our apartment complex has a small gym so we utilize it whenever possible. And it's great!
