Logan's 6 month birthday was on the day we flew out to Portland to start our Christmas vacation so that was about a month ago. I hope I can remember what he was like back then!

Logan had 3 teeth (the 4th was coming soon), continued to get longer hair and more of it, and was getting so good at sitting up. He loved to just sit and play with his toys. He would do that for an entire hour before he either needed to be fed or put to bed! He was still on a 3 naps a day schedule with one nightly feeding. He was still eating really well (when he wasn't spitting it out for fun) and liking every new food I introduced to him especially pears. He sometimes cries because I can't get the pears in him fast enough! According to WIC, he was 16 lbs 2 oz but now I can't remember how long he was. (His 6 month appointment had to be postponed until we got back from our trip so he will basically be 7 months old). He loves to click his tongue and is very smart. He sometimes tries to use one of his longer toys to push a toy that he wants closer to him. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Quite the little problem solver. Or maybe he just doesn't like to move.

I was feeling like I had everything figured out. So of course, he had to change things up on me. He started rolling over A LOT in his crib. He is a belly sleeper and he kept rolling over onto his back and crying because he couldn't get back. It caused him to wake up more often at night, take shorter naps (as if they weren't short enough), and take longer to fall asleep. In the beginning, I kept rolling him back over onto his belly, but it got to the point where it was almost immediately after I rolled him over that he rolled back. I began to realize that it was a game to him and I needed to stop. First I asked for advice on Facebook and decided I would just roll him back every 1/2 hour, but I quickly realized that wasn't going to work because he knew I would eventually come to save him so I had to just stop and let him cry. I thought I was done with the sleep training but I am learning that you have to keep doing it periodically as things change. This all happened a week before our vacation and I was really hoping I could get him back on track before we left. Well, things were better but still not great, but it was too late. We would have to continue with it on the vacation the best that we could.
Logan basically spent his whole 6th month on vacation and he was a trooper. But more on that later.
It's so interesting how Preston and Logan have so much in common! It took "sleep training" Preston to get him to learn how to fall asleep in other positions as well. It was a difficult transition stage, but we're doing better now. It still takes him quite a while to fall asleep for his naps, but when he wakes up, he is happy to play in his crib for a while, rolling about. Sadly, sometimes he falls asleep with his face or head jammed against the crib rail because he scooted all the way there. Then he'll wake up. I can't wait to hear about your trip! Nate and Cindy said they had so much fun with you guys and loved holding little Logan.
