Fun in the Northwest

We hadn't seen Nate's Northwest sisters since our wedding, so since we had such a long Christmas vacation, we decided it would be a great time to go. We flew into Portland on December 15, Logan's sixth month birthday.
Logan's first airplane ride
Once we got to Washington, Logan had a nap, then we spent some time with Stephanie's family and went to some outlet stores. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain and quite cold so we didn't stay too long and we were tired too from the very early flight. The next day was Sunday and we were able to be there when Brandon received the priesthood. That was a neat experience.
On Monday, we drove out to Oregon to Gina's house. The first day we just spent chatting and letting Logan get some good naps in. The cousins there, especially the girls, were really cute with him and he was loving the attention and the "new" toys.

Tuesday, we went out to the coast. Unfortunately, the weather was absolutely crazy! We experienced everything on that trip, wind, rain, snow, and hail. So Logan slept in the car most of the time while we drove to see a shipwreck on the beach and the Astoria Column. Nate and I were the only ones who climbed the stairs to the top, but there were some beautiful views. The hail started as we were coming down so we had to run through it to get to the car! Astoria is also where Kindergarten Cop was filmed so we drove by the hotel where Arnold Schwarzenegger stayed.
Reading the plaque about the shipwreck. For some reason,  I don't look like myself.
The shipwreck. It was freezing so we didn't venture too far from the car.

That night we played some games and then next day we went to meet Stephanie's family at a mall. There was a great little play area where we all spent most of our time. Shannon was great and played with Logan in it.
Logan was getting bored or tired towards the end

Jaron and Whitney are cute in this one. It was hard to get one with them all looking!

After the play area, we walked around a bit and while waiting for some people to buy some things, the kids found this little Merry-go-Round. I'm sure you were only supposed to have about 4 kids on it at a time, but they all piled on there, even the bigger kids!

After the mall, we went back to Stephanie's house. That night, we went to the Columbia river to see a parade of boats all lit up with Christmas lights. However, they came much later than we thought and Logan and Maycee had already had a long day and they had had it. There was a lot of crying going on, so we decided we just needed to head back and put them to bed. On the way back, we did finally see the ships coming so we pulled over for a bit to take a look, then went home. It was unfortunate it didn't work out, but it always stresses me out when Logan is overtired. We played games after the kids went to bed instead and that was fun. The next day we flew to Utah.
