So I realized that basically all of my posts are about Logan. So just a few things that Nate and I have been up to during the past month (Logan's 8th month of life).
We were able to go on a date because a woman from our ward volunteered to watch Logan. We went out for lunch at Ruby Tuesday (with a coupon) and then to Kohls to get Nate a new white Sunday shirt and Logan a darling Easter Sunday outfit. I can't wait for him to wear it and then I will post pictures!
Nate has been very busy writing papers, reading cases and whatever else he reads for class, working (grading papers), and applying for Summer jobs. He had an interview for a Summer internship with 2 Men and a Truck. It has something to do with marketing. I guess he would go to different places (trade shows?) and talk about the business. He's excited about it because it would also be a great way to network for future jobs. So we'll see if he gets that. Of course, he will continue to apply for other jobs and we'll hope for the best!
I have been busy being a homemaker, making a quiet book (I get together with another woman from my ward so I can use her sewing machine), doing stuff every once in awhile for the BYU Alumni Cleveland Association (I'm the secretary), teaching piano, and deciding on whether or not I wanted to renew my teaching license for Utah. The way Utah works, you have to get 100 points and different things you do have different point values. So since I subbed for 2 years, I will get 50 points from that, then I had to take a Praxis test in order to get my license in Ohio so I got 25 points for that. I was just missing 25 points. I decided to go for it and looked up online classes for all the Utah universities. It turned out that BYU Independent Study was the best way to go so I signed up for a 1 credit class there and I will get 18 more points (which I'm actually really excited about!). So I only have 7 points left! The only other thing I can do in my position is volunteer hours. You get 1 point for every 3 hours that you volunteer at a public school. I called the Elementary school nearby and they would love to have me. The teacher will send a student (K-2) out in the hall and they will read to me. However, I need to get a background check done before I can start. So that's where I'm at. I need to get fingerprinted tomorrow and hopefully I'll be ready to go soon. I'm going to volunteer for 3 hours every week until the end of the school year. So it's expensive and going to be a busy next few months but it will be good to have that license just in case I need to go back to work for a little bit while Nate finds a real job after graduation. He's been really supportive and encouraging about this, which is great.
I'm glad you did this because I have been wondering what you've been up to and I think that's really great of you to keep up with your license! It will be super busy, but at least you can see the light at the end of the tunnel :)
ReplyDeleteAs a parent, I pretty much do what you are volunteering to do at that school for Cambree's class. I have all year. Ido love it and like to see how much progress they make (or don't make!).
