We Have a 9 Month Old!

This is what Logan likes to do while I'm making dinner. Get into the recycling
and anything else he can in the kitchen (don't mind the mismatched clothes.
Nate dressed him and forgot to put a long-sleeved onesie under his short-
sleeved shirt so I stuck a jacket on him,)
Logan turned 9 months old on Friday. So now he has been out of my belly about as long as he was in my belly! And it's amazing to think how much he has grown and changed. His doctor's appointment won't be until he's about 10 months old (we got behind with our Christmas vacation) so I don't have any stats for him. He still seems as chubby as ever and he has about grown out of his 6-9 month clothes so it really needs to warm up because most of his 9-12 month clothes are for Summer. He also has grown out of his is baby carrier car seat so we bought a convertible car seat. We actually got really lucky, after looking for a few weekends at Walmart and Target, and either not liking the options or the option we like was out, we went to Babies R Us and found the one we wanted on sale! He's still rear facing (since they are supposed to be rear facing until they are 2), but he does sit up a little more, so I think he likes it better.
Standing by the furniture! Big boy!
Logan's great accomplishment for this month is that he pulls himself up to standing on furniture and can inch his way around it. I still don't have video of him doing that because he's really slow and not consistent at it. He mostly just likes pulling himself up, pounding the coffee table, crouching, then pulling himself up again to do it all over again. I watch him and I realize that if I did that all day, that would be quite the workout! I'd have some nice legs! He also sometimes pulls himself up on his V-tech push toy and pushes it a little ways. I think Logan's favorite toys are his balls. He loves to roll them and then crawl after them. He recently discovered that they roll really well on the linoleum so often brings his balls over there to roll them and bang them. He also loves stuffed animals.
Looking his reflection
Logan learned to clap and it is so cute! He claps whether he is happy or sad. It's just his response to everything. He will sometimes wave hello or goodbye but it's not very consistent. He seems to mostly understand the word "no." I will say "no" about something he can't do (like play with the electrical cords) and he will flap his arms and complain, but he usually tries again until I physically move him from the spot. So he seems to know that it's not a good word, but he still does what he wants.
Clapping!

Logan is still a great eater. His favorite thing is yogurt. The only problem is that we wants to feed himself so sometimes there are big messes from him trying to grab the spoon and me pulling away so the food goes flying! We've tried to help things by giving him his own spoon, but then he just wants both of them. Oh well, we'll make it through. I always give him some finger foods for every meal and then feed him some baby food.

Logan has gone back to having one nap a day again. He probably takes 2 naps only 2 or 3 days in a week. I'm not sure what to do about it. But I do what I am supposed to do (I'm a total sleep Nazi) and at least the rest he gets from sitting in his crib, whether he sleeps or not, seems to help rejuvenate him.

We gave him his second haircut this month. We turned on some Baby Einsteins, Nate held him, and I did the cutting. I just took a little off the bottom and sides so he was BYU appropriate. We didn't take anything off the top. His hair can get a little wild at times and it definitely does it's own thing. Logan takes after Nate in so many ways!
Logan's wild hair after waking up from a nap! It cracked me up!

He is still our happy boy! Loves to laugh, smile, and squeal! He's very social and loves attention from anyone and likes to babble. I just love this little boy!

  1. The picture of Logan standing at the coffee table reminds me of Nate at that age. He is a cutie and it looks like he is at that stage where they leave a trail of debris everywhere they go.

  2. Preston is doing the same "one nap a day" thing as well. One or two days a week, he gets two naps, but he doesn't seem to be tired for the second one. It seems awfully early to be doing this, but I read that with some babies, as they approach their first birthday, they try to go down to one nap. Sometimes it's a stage, but sometimes it's permanent. Oh well.
