Akron Zoo

One or two weeks after Logan's birthday, we went to the Akron Zoo. We had tried to go earlier, but the Saturday we had planned it, Nate ended up getting an interview and started his job the very next Monday! So that was really exciting and especially relieving. We were getting pretty stressed about how we were going to be able to make it through the next month's bills. I had even started applying to some places for work and I registered myself on Care.com to be a babysitter. I also had all sorts of crazy ideas run through my head about how we could make some extra cash. So that was a huge relief. It is an internship with a small law office. He's researching a particular case and writing an appellate brief. I don't know the details because he can't tell anyone the details but it does deal with businesses.

Anyway, back to the zoo. We were really excited about taking Logan because he loves animals. We ate our lunch in the parking lot, then we went inside. It was a smaller zoo than I had expected, but it was definitely kid friendly. There weren't any monkeys, giraffes, or elephants. But Logan's favorite animals seemed to be the penguins and the sea creatures. It's probably because they moved around the most. The size was perfect for Logan though because he was getting tired by the end and was ready to go. It was a fairly hot day but we didn't have any rain so it turned out nice.

Not a great picture. Logan was too interested in watching other people than Nate!

Oh so a sad thing. Our camera decided not to turn on. For awhile it had been doing this thing where it didn't always turn on the first time you tried so you had to do it multiple times and then it finally would. But this time, it just didn't. So I had to use my camera phone which doesn't have a zoom so I couldn't take a picture of the tiger like I wanted to. He was pacing back and forth in his cage looking like he was trying to figure out a way to break out! Needless to say, we bought a new camera the next week and the megapixels are twice what our old camera was so we're excited

After the zoo, we drove around a bit so Logan could get some sleep, then we went to The Melt. It is a restaurant where they do gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. We really wanted to check it out because it has been featured on the TV show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. And it did not disappoint. We were there early, like around 4, and we still had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes before we could sit. I can't imagine how busy it gets later! But it was worth it. I can't remember the exact name of what I got but it was chicken Parmesan and basically I had a chicken breast on each half of my sandwich. These things were huge! And tasty! I can't remember what Nate got either but it had different Italian meats on it. We each only ate half our sandwich and ate the rest of it on Sunday for lunch.
