Halloween Fun!

We did a few fun things for Halloween this year. We went to the annual Law School Halloween party. I think it was on Thursday the 17th. I dressed Logan up in his darling giraffe costume ($10 at the consignment sale!) and met Nate there.

We ate pizza and cupcakes (well, Logan didn't eat because he was just trying to figure out what was going on!). There were some games and things for the kids to do, but Logan was a little young. He did do a pumpkin toss (threw a ball through the mouth of a paper pumpkin). It took some coaxing and he had to get right up to the pumpkin, but he finally threw it in the hole and got to pick a prize. We chose a stuffed soccer ball. It was perfect! I then tried to put him in the bouncy house, but he just sat there and then when one of the kids where coming out, they totally bounced Logan and if I hadn't been there, he would've fallen onto the ground. I shouldn't have put him in. He is still too young. Then Nate had to go to class so I went and chatted with the other Mormon law school spouses. Logan mostly just sat on my lap, but he did get up sometimes to push buttons on a vending machine.
Cuteness overload!

The Saturday before Halloween, we decided to carve our pumpkin. I only bought one this year and it was a pretty small one, but it was perfect. Any more than that, and Logan would've gotten bored. We all helped clean it out. Logan was really getting into it! And he knew just what to do, we didn't even have to show him. He loved sticking the spoon in there and trying to scrape all around. He wasn't a huge fan of getting the mess on his hands though. He's really funny about stuff like that! Then we took it to the table and I drew the face on it and carved it while Nate kept Logan a safe distance away.

The Sunday before Halloween is always the official Trick-or-Treating day around here. I didn't figure this out until too late last year. No wonder we didn't get any Trick-or-Treaters! But this year, I wanted to do it so I looked it up on the internet (it was from 3-5) and had 2 packages of candy. I turned my porch light on and got enough Trick-or-Treaters to give away all that we wanted to give! Yes, we kept some for us to eat and had eaten some before. Logan was really funny! Almost every time I gave candy away, he wanted some for himself. Of course, I didn't want to give him that much, so I ended up giving him a few Craisins or Yogurt bites after each time.  He was happy with that. And I really enjoyed handing out the candy.
Just a picture from the day we bought the pumpkin. Logan was sure protecting it!
On Wednesday the 30th, our ward did a Trunk-or-Treat. So I dressed Logan up in his giraffe costume again and I cut out some brown spots and made myself a headband with ears and those antler things so I was the mommy giraffe and he was the baby. Nate was at school, so no costume for him. They had some games inside at first (once again, Logan couldn't do much), then we went outside for the real fun. He didn't understand the concept, but he did love it when someone held out a bowl of candy! He tried to take as many as he could hold and then he would try to go back for more! Of course, I made sure he only ended up taking one unless they said he could have more. He also would sometimes try to run off in another direction, so I ended up holding him for a lot of the time. In the end, he did start saying thank you, but I don't think anyone could hear him but me! He did get quite a stash that we all shared for a week or two. And we discovered he really does like candy!
It was so hard to get a good picture of the two of us!
Logan found someone else's Trick-or-Treat bag. I thought he looked really cute holding it! I just had a grocery bag for him.
Trick-or-Treat!
My lovely costume
After all of that, we didn't do anything on the actual Halloween night, but we did enough beforehand.

  1. Your homemade costume was great! I was hoping you were able to dress up because I know how much you like to do it.
