Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

For Christmas Eve this year we went with my family. We left right after church and we were the first ones there. Even my parents weren't home from church yet. But soon after church, they all started trickling in. All of my siblings' families were there except Angie's. Missy was sick with a fever so she wasn't able to make it but the rest of her family was there. Also, Shawn's mom Barbara Hancock and David's parents Dave and Ellen Colette were there so it was quite a crowd. After a dinner of Ham, funeral potatoes, jello, fruit, etc., we had a Christmas Eve program. It started out with the nativity. Logan was a wise man and Kylie was an angel. The program went pretty well with the kids cooperating for the most part. My mom had the projector going with background pictures to help keep the kids engaged. I honestly couldn't watch it all very well since Ethan wasn't too happy. After the nativity was the talent part of the program. JJ played some Christmas song while the rest of us sang. Then, Logan (Kylie was supposed to join) sang Jingle Bells. Cambree and Brinley sang a duet. Sadie played the piano. Tiffany lip synced to a mashup of Christmas songs. Funny and cute!
Such a cute wiseman!

After the program, we did a gift exchange for that side of the family. The cousins there all unwrapped gifts. Kylie got a mermaid Barbie from the Collettes, Logan got an iron man action figure from the Hancocks, and we got a Alhambra board game and a shirt for me from the Collettes. We all got some fun stuff! The drive home on Christmas Eve was pretty harrowing. It was snowing and when we got to Davis County, traffic had gotten really slow because it was really slick and their had been multiple accidents. There were many cars that had slid off the side of the road. It was pretty scary! Nate did a great job of driving though and we made it home safely.

Christmas morning was fun for us. Both Logan and Kylie were into it. They were a little timid at first in approaching their new toys but then they started exploring them and playing with them. Logan got a PJ Mask playset and a wizard wand that allows you to cast spells. Kylie got Calico Critters (little bunnies) and a sweater. After they played with those for a bit, we unwrapped presents. It doesn't take us too long to unwrap all the presents since we don't do too many. Logan got Yoshi's Wooly World from us, aquabeads from his siblings (probably his favorite present), nerf guns from Grandma and Grandpa Summers, monster slippers and a Book of Mormon Bedtime story book from Grandma and Grandpa Davis, and some Star Wars figurines from the Phelons. Kylie got a Ken doll from us, My Little Ponies from siblings and the Phelons, a Doc McStuffin doctor's kit from Grandma and Grandpa Summers (probably her favorite present! We all got lots of checkups for Christmas), mini mouse slippers, a piggy bank, and a book from Grandma and Grandpa Davis. Ethan got some much needed bottles from Santa and a cute towel that my mom made (a bear). He also got a toy phone from the Gees and an outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Summers. I got Pyrex containers and a camping chair. I got big cookie sheets from my parents (and a generous amount of money for both of us). Nate got a Fitbit Blaze watch from me and the kids and Virtual Reality goggles from my parents. His parents and the Garrisons gave us Amazon gift cards.

All the presents under our tree.

Here he is wearing the cute outfit!
Logan's monster slippers. I think he took this picture.
The first thing he made with his aquabeads. I think it's a cat.

Christmas day we spent with the Summers. We got to their house a little before noon and opened presents. We had the usual ham and au gratin potatoes for lunch/dinner. We visited and played games the rest of the day. I think the only game we played might have been Alhambra. Since it was the first time we had played, we realized as the game went on that we were messing up some of the rules so it didn't go real smoothly and took a little longer, but it was still fun. We of course, had to do the game where Nancy reads a poem and we pass presents to the right or left depending on what she says. I actually can't remember what we all got from this! I do remember Nancy gave Ethan and Weston burp cloths even though they didn't participate in the game.

As for Ethan, he is sleeping a little better since we have been letting him cry. He gets up twice a night to eat, then goes right back to sleep. His naps are short, so he usually has 3 a day. Sometimes one of the naps will be longer, about an hour and a half. Honestly, I feel like this Christmas season was a bit of a blur from the exhaustion of having a new baby, but it was also special too to have one so little during the Christmas season. It makes you think a little more about what Mary went through when she had Jesus. Of course, it would have been even more overwhelming to be the mother of the Son of God.
