Other May Happenings

We finally had some good weather on May 25th so we decided to take advantage of it and go to the GSL Shoreland Preserve. It's a nice boardwalk where you can see many different kinds of birds. Unfortunately, it was really windy and blew Nate's BYU hat right off! He couldn't go get it, since it is all gross wetlands. So that was sad for him, but the kids thought it was pretty funny. Afterwards, we went to Sub Zero for some fun ice cream.

Nate and I also made some good progress on some shelves we are putting in the kids' closet (so that they will have more places to put toys instead of all over the floor). We had started in the beginning of the year, but got really frustrated. It seems nothing ever goes smoothly for us. So we finally got the courage to try again and it went much better this time. We should have it done soon.

For Memorial Day, we did the usual visiting of Nate's grandpa's grave site and a few other ancestors that are buried in the Kaysville cemetary, and then a BBQ at the Summers' later on. We also finished those shelves! It's so nice to have some room in the floor of their closet now!

The last day of school was Friday! I worked that day, and Logan had a presentation thing. But I was able to get someone to cover for me for the last little bit of the day and I said good bye to my class before. It was a bit of a rough start of a year, but it did get easier after the most difficult student moved away. I did feel like I could never get complete control of it though. Classroom management is certainly a struggle for me. Anyway, at Logan's thing, they showed us what they have been making for PLTW on their Ipads. They made simple games. They also sang a couple of songs. It was cute!

My favorite part of this is when they all do the floss! So cute!

Then on Saturday, Ellison Park (the actual park that is by the school) had a Welcome to Summer activity with bounce houses, the splash pad, and a mud slide that turned into a sud slide. Kylie was the only one brave enough to do the mud/sud slide. I was proud of her that she wanted to do it! Unfortunately, the 2nd time she went down, she got soap all over her face so she wasn't happy about that. And after, she and Nate had to get sprayed down with a hose that was a little painful and cold.

I'm so excited for Summer! I have little charts made to help the kids do their chores and continue their learning. Hopefully it works out!

Pics from a walk. We go on walks quite frequently in the Spring.
