Solids!

A couple of weeks ago, Logan got sick with a cold and for one of the days, he was so congested that he couldn't eat from his bottle. To make matters worse, he was also teething so he wasn't feeling good because of that either. Luckily, this happened on a day that Nate was home, otherwise I'm not sure what I would've done. At first, we were trying different ways to feed him (like squirting a syringe in his mouth), but it was just making him more mad because the food just wasn't coming fast enough. So we decided for Nate to go buy some rice cereal and start him on solids. I was going to start him the next week after I went grocery shopping, but his sickness forced this on us because we needed to get food in him somehow.

I got a high chair from a consignment sale and luckily I had just cleaned it a day or two before. So we made a big deal about eating solids to get him all excited and he did a pretty good job and he seemed to be enjoying it. He did get bored before eating it all though and he still often does. It seemed to be easier to keep the spoon in his mouth for a bit so he could suck off the food in order to get it down.

The high chair is still really big for him and he did not seem to be comfortable, so about a week later, our neighbor was having a garage sale and there were 2 bumbos there! One had a tray with it so I was able to get a bumbo with a tray and he loves it! It is easier to feed him in it because he is more comfortable. Up to this point, he's just had oatmeal and rice, but I am going to buy some more different kinds today and after I get some jars, I will start making my own baby food to save on cost (with my nice new blender). He's also only eaten a whole bowl (1/2 T spoon cereal to 1 1/2 T milk) one time. Usually he just eats half. However, I don't have to keep the spoon in his mouth for him to suck it off, he can get it down without that. So he is improving.
