Sedona Days 4 - 6

Thursday we decided to do something a bit cooler since the day before had been so hot. We found a hike called Cathedral Rock that was mostly in the shade. It was really close to our house as well. Each car had to pay a $10 fee and it had to be cash! A lot of our cars didn't have enough cash, but Shawn luckily paid for 3! We did have cash for us. I was a little disappointed in the hike because I thought we would actually get to the rock, but it was more of a scenic hike where you just saw Cathedral Rock in the distance for most of the hike. We also didn't go until the trail ended. But it was shady and we had to cross a river (which was a bit difficult and slippery. I'm so glad Nate was the one carrying Kylie in the baby carrier) and we did some wading in the river as well at the end of our hike where we ate some snacks, so it was a nice cool hike.

When we came back, a lot of us swam in the pool or hot tub. That night we played games again.

The next day was our last full day so everyone just did what they wanted to do. Nate was awesome and stayed home with the kids while I did everything:). We started with us sisters doing some yoga in the yoga room for backs. That was relaxing.

I went rock climbing with JJ, Kristy, their kids, David, Angie, (was Rob there?) Brinley, Sadie, Colden, and Dylan in the same area we had been yesterday. It was hard to find a good rock climbing spot so the one we found was a bit difficult. Everyone needed a boost to even get started and most of us couldn't get much higher than that. We went to a different spot later and just did some repelling. That was more fun for me. The kids were getting a bit bored too since it takes time to get everything ready and then each person takes time, so they went out on a trail and ended up finding the river and playing in it. It was actually a really cool spot and had a small natural slide.

Brinley's turn. She got as high as I did.
David probably got the highest. Apparently there were a bunch of spiders when you got up there which was a bit gross and made it hard to find hand holds. Angie, Kristy, and JJ also got really high.

That afternoon, I went shopping in the touristy area of Sedona with the girls. So my mom, Angie, Missy, Kristy, Tiffany, and I. It was a cute little area. I bought a shot glass, which is the thing we collect, and a drum thing for Logan. We learned a little bit about why Sedona is kind of a spiritual place. People supposedly just feel better here because of electromagnetic forces or something. Supposedly less aches and pains. I certainly did not experience that. There were a lot of shops selling natural things and crystals and things like that. Anyway, interesting, but not something I believe in.

These little javalinas (huge rodents) are apparently a big issue in this area at night. I can't remember what they are called.

That evening we did family pictures. Missy took them, of course. We just did them in the big backyard of the house.

Our big family!

This was definitely the hardest picture to take! Gage wouldn't even sit in it!

 The family, all grown up

My dad commented that there was a lot of white teeth!

The next day we had to pack up and check out. It was bitter sweet. I really enjoyed being with my family so it was bitter to part ways, but I was ready to get back to a normal schedule. We actually stopped at some Indian ruins near Flagstaff called Wupatki. It was really cool to see and to picture how they lived.

The city

This was the sporting arena. Apparently they played something with a ball and everyone would come to watch.
While back on the road, we ran into a really bad hail storm. We actually had to pull over for bit and we said a prayer. After a bit, we decided that we really needed to just continue and drive out of it. We made it out safely. We stayed the night again in Panguitch (it was not a great hotel) and made the rest of the journey the next day. Our kids were troopers on this trip, but I think they were ready to get back to normal naps for Kylie and normal schedule for Logan.
