August Happenings

Hill Air Force Base Museum

Missy came for a day outing to go to the Air Force Museum and also to take our family pictures. I have been to the outside of it but this was the first time going inside and it was much bigger than I thought! There were so many airplanes, it was crazy! We didn't stop to read plaques (kids don't have patience for that), but it was really cool just to look at all of them. The kids had a blast.

The Jolly Roger (decorated like a pirate)

An old propeller
A B-17. The kind of airplane my grandpa flew in WWII

The inside of some sort of people carrier airplane
After touring the inside, we went outside and took a snack break then looked at all of the really big airplanes outside. This is the part that I have looked at before. But it is always cool to see how big they really are.

The Candy Bomber's airplane
After this we went to our house to grab some dinner and get ready for pictures. When Nate got home, we went to Grandma Hill's house (Nate's grandma) to take our family pictures. Here are a few of them.

For some reason I am not a fan of my profile

My favorite. It's a blooper, but I love it because I totally hear Kylie's scream when looking at this.

Fruit Heights Founder's Day

Fruit Heights always has a fair where everything is completely free to celebrate when they became a city. They have a lot of booths there like balloon animals, "fishing," bounce house, little train, and food trucks. So we went to each of the booths and the kids got a lot of fun prizes and we also got some World's Best Corndogs. The Cederlofs also went so it was fun to see them there.

Olympics

We spent 2 weeks watching the Summer Olympics every evening and for many hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Nate LOVES the Olympics. I knew Logan would struggle watching it for as long as we wanted too, so I tried to find some fun crafts and things online. There were some good preschool type pages I printed off that we did as well as this cute torch craft.

At the end of August, school started! I had to go to some all day trainings and spend a couple of days setting up the classroom the week before so it was a little crazy and the kids were watched by many different people (my mom, Nate's mom, and Cindy). My mom also came to the school with the kids for a bit to help me set up the classroom. My partner, Lindy, had just had a baby so she was struggling to get it all done as well. She was also taking a couple of weeks off for maternity leave so the kids didn't meet her until back-to-school night and others didn't meet her for a couple of weeks. It worked out fine though. There was a sub and she was a really great substitute. It is all kind of blur now because I didn't really know what I was doing and now that I'm half way through the school year, I finally know what procedures and rules I should've taught at the beginning of the year and how I should've taught them. I really do have a great bunch of kids though and I love them all, even the ones that drive me a little crazy.
