One-on-One Outings

In my last post I mentioned that we do one-on-ones with Logan. We take turns so Nate will go one month with Logan and I will stay with Kylie and then the next month I will go out with Logan and Nate will stay with Kylie. Once she gets a bit older, we'll go out with her for one-on-ones as well. We got this idea from General Conference. I believe it was Elder Oaks who talked about family councils and that there are different types of family councils. There is the council with the whole family, the council with just the parents alone, and the parent with the child. We decided to start implementing these and I really have enjoyed it and I know Logan does too. He really looks forward to his fun day with one of us.

At a park
Some of the things we have done: gone to Boondocks for the arcade games and for mini golf (separate occasions), a place full of bounce houses and blow up obstacle courses, the park, movie theater, The Rush complex and did mini golf and go carts, and out for ice cream. We always make sure to ask him questions about how he is feeling about things. At this point, he's always happy and everything but I'm sure as he gets older, these outings will be a good time for him to let out some real feelings or troubles he's having. And I feel like it's just so good for him to feel special enough that we spend that one-on-one time with him. I know doing this will get more difficult as we add more children to our family, but I hope we can always make it work to at least do things with them one-on-one every other month.
