Real family picture. I got another great deal from a different photography place |
Logan turned one month on July 15, 2012. When I took him to the doctor the next day, he had gained 3 pounds past his birthrate!
Weight: 9 lbs. 12 oz - 20th percentile
Height: 21 and 1/4 in - I think around 25th percentile
Head: I don't remember, but it was 50th percentile

| His first day of Church. This actually at 3 wks old |
So he is still on the smaller side of things, but he is growing fast! When I went to WIC on the 17th, they said that normally babies gain about a pound and a half a month so they were acting like I was feeding him too much and should take him off of formula. But I explained the issues he had at birth and how happy I was with that weight gain. Besides, the doctor never said anything about it being a problem. So I still wanted to have formula for a little longer. I only get about 1 can a week, so I don't think it's a big deal, but WIC likes to make you feel bad for not solely breastfeeding your baby. And it's becoming less and less often that I need to supplement with formula. At the one month mark, he was probably only having about 4-8 oz of formula a day. Normally now I just do a bottle if I can't be around (like at church because Nate has him since my calling as primary chorister is a busy one), or when he doesn't want to breastfeed. He has moments when he either won't take a bottle, or he won't take the breast. At least it's always one or the other and not both. Every once in awhile, he still seems hungry after feeding so we feed him an ounce or 2 of formula.

| Family Picture Day - not too happy. But he ended up being really good |
 |
| same day - he didn't like the flash |
Other things at one month: he is more alert and studies his hands and feet. It really is so cute to watch. He'll stare at his hand as he tries to bring it to his mouth. It's a total look of concentration. And sometimes the hand goes out of control and flies up and hits him on the head. Sometimes while I am changing his diaper, one of his hands will grab his hair and start pulling and he doesn't know how to let go so he will start crying. I have to carefully pry his fingers off.
He started losing his hair in front. Going bald early! No, there is other hair taking it's place, but it seems lighter.
He holds his head up pretty good. If you hold him in a sitting position, it only sometimes flops one way or the other.
He often gets fussy in the evenings. I think he just gets so tired, he doesn't know what to do with himself. It's like he's too tired to sleep. Mornings are definitely the best time for me to get things done because he is happy and will sit anywhere without fussing. By afternoon and evening, he wants to be held and cuddled so it is difficult to get things done.
He loves going on car rides and walks. That will almost always put him to sleep if he is ornery.
It takes him a really long time to wake up. He will stretch and stretch and make faces for a full 2 minutes or more before any eyes open. Then he will stretch some more and sometimes he will go back to sleep, other times he will wake up. We say he gets that from his dad. Nate struggles to wake up in the morning.

Having some tummy time. I was trying to catch him with his head up,
but my camera is too slow. You can also see his long body & short legs |
Overall, he is a very good baby and an absolute joy to his parents. He is getting cuter and cuter the more alert he becomes. I still have moments when I look at him and think about how crazy it is that he was in my stomach and he is my son and I am a mom and am his mother. And it will be this way forever. It's just crazy but I am enjoying it!

Something will startle him in his sleep and his hands will
fly up, then stay there |
Oh man! He's a cutie! Love his short legs that he also gets from Nate. :) cute family picture but I wish you were closer so I could do one! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCute plaid shirt! I'm glad you're loving motherhood and that things are getting easier! It's cute that when Logan gets startled that his hands stay there. I'm currently reading this sleeping book that my doctor told me to read and so far I'm agreeing with everything it's saying to do. I have yet to try the methods, but I strongly suggest you check it out at the library and read it before Logan turns 6 weeks old. The book says to start sleep training by then. We won't be training Avery until we move in and she'll be 5 months old! ugh, I'm confident it'll work though and I'll be getting my zzzz's again. I don't want you to turn into a zombie like me so I highly suggest the book, "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Weissbluth.
ReplyDeleteLogan sounds like so much fun! And he's got such a personality already. The next few years are fun...it's like a treasure hunt as you discover you're kid's personality and character. Just recently, I realized that Dylan naturally exhibits a lot of leadership traits. Which is a good thing. But sometimes it's difficult when I can't reason with him to help him change his mind on something he has his mind set on doing in his own way. I sure look forward to meeting Logan! He's such a cutie!
