Christmas Vacation at the Davis'

We made it to my parents' house and only my parents were there at first, but not too much later, JJ and Kristy's family came. So we got to see their new baby boy. And Annie had changed so much! It took awhile for her to warm up to us, but she did and she was darling! We had dinner (lasagna) and chatted. The next evening we chilled some more and played games and that evening the men went to see The Hobbit. The next day, Missy and her kids came just in time for all the women to go watch Les Mes. So the men had to watch all those kids (without Shawn)! But they did good. After that, we just all hung out together and then went to the Stout (my mom's side of the family) Christmas party that night. The Pattersons met us there so it was fun to see them.

The next day was the big celebration. First, we had to do a big family picture. Unfortunately, there was a lot of snow, but my mom came prepared. She brought a snow shovel and Shawn shoveled a path to where we would stand, and a tarp to put the camera equipment on and one to put our coats on. It was cold, but we are only together so often so I understand why my mom wanted it to be done.
Blooper! Missy was figuring settings out etc. with her camera.
The final picture!
Some of the families stayed to do individual family pictures, it was just too cold so I wanted to get Logan back home. After everyone got back, it was basically Christmas all over again. The kids opened their presents first (youngest to oldest) and then the kids went off to play (I put Logan to bed) and the adults opened their presents (youngest to oldest) as is the tradition in my family. Logan was really excited once again to get more boxes! He got an alligator keyboard from Grandma and Grandpa Davis and stacking toys from the Hancocks. We got a large George Foreman that also does Paninis and Candyland from Angie and bright-colored kitchen knives and emergency preparedness things from my parents. They also gave everyone a mouse pad with a family picture on it and a remote control car. Nate was pretty excited about that.

Another gift!

After the gift opening, we played the $10 gift exchange game. We got a little bit more creative this year so there were more steals and it made it a little more fun. We got Monopoly Deal Millionaire (which we later found out came with a $5 bill tucked inside) and a water bottle with a purifier in it. Nate takes that to school with him now because the water there tastes pretty gross so that helps out.  For the most part, we got things that were easy enough to take back with us on the plane. The only thing we weren't sure would fit was the George Foreman. Later, we played games. The girls played Nertz and the boys played Settlers (they don't like Nertz). It had been a long time since we had played, so that was fun.

All 5 of us had a baby within a year and half of each other. We really wanted
to get a picture of all of them together in age order. It took some time because there was
often one or more sleeping or eating, but it finally happened! This is the blooper.
Poor Avery was getting attacked by the 2 boys next to her.
Logan doing what he does best, grabbing people's faces!
Sadie doesn't like it.
The good one!
The next day was Saturday and some people went skiing while the rest of us stayed home to either help with the kids or to hang out with my friends! The Hancocks had already left because they had plans with Shawn's side of the family. Tiffany, Avery, Nate, Logan, and I went up to Salt Lake to City Creek Mall to meet up with some of my friends who I hadn't seen in a long time. Tamara, Becky, Marie, and Kelsey (with her baby) came. It was great to spend some time with them and chat. Especially Tamara because I hadn't seen her since before her mission! We left earlier than the rest of them because the babies were tired and needed to get home to sleep. They basically cried most of the way home. One would cry and it would start the other one up. I have to say, having twins would be so hard if only for that one reason! JJ and Kristy left that evening.
The group! (Nate took the picture. Isn't he wonderful?)
Sunday we all went to church and probably played games or something that night. Monday was New Year's Day and we all went over to Missy's to celebrate (except Tiffany and David, they decided to be bums and go to bed early:). However, on the way there, we first stopped at my grandma's to see her and chat with her.

First, Missy took Logan's 6 month pictures. Logan was so good and happy! It was a breeze! Then we went to a place nearby to do some family pictures. Logan was obviously cold, but he was still good and we took those pictures fast! I'll post the pictures on the next post so this one won't be too long.

After that, we had food and played lots of games. Of course I put Logan to bed at the usual early time. It's not like he cares about the New Year! I didn't take any pictures of our fun. The next day, we were going to leave to go back to my mom's but we decided we might as well stay another night so we could have more time with the Hancocks. Plus, my dad was going back to work and my mom was going to spend the day with my grandma. We just did a load of laundry and wore the same thing twice! The next day, we met my mom at Cabellas so she could give us a ride back to Tooele. It was actually my first time there and I was surprised that there were more things there than just stuffed animals. You could even try shooting! Cambree and I were the only ones who did it. It was really hard and I don't think I shot a single target!

The next day (Thursday), was scrapbooking day for my mom and aunts so they came to Tooele and we did some chatting and played games. Then Friday we went back to Nate's parent's house. It was nice because I felt like I was able to spend some "alone" time with all of my siblings. We had lots of fun and Logan enjoyed his cousins!

  1. Yup! I was glad we got to hang out so much. I was worried about that especially with all our other plans. Miss you!
