January Review!

Bad news first: We found out that Jeb has lymphoma cancer. It was about a 4 month long process of chemo and radiation, but he was eventually able to beat it!

Good news was Nate's birthday! He turned 35. We gave him a Bluetooth speaker, the first one we've ever had. Then we had a date where we went to see Spiderman- Into the Spiderverse. It is an animated Spiderman move, but it was really good. Way better than I thought. Then we walked around City Creek and I bought some clothes at Downeast (which is silly that I buy clothes on Nate's Birthday! But I really needed some new white undershirt things) while we waited for our reservation at the Kyoto Restaurant. It had been awhile since we had been, so it was time to go again! It was delicious, as always!

Martin Luther King Day ended up being a cold, snowy day so we spent the day indoors. Nate used his birthday money from parents to buy himself a new phone! So that was fun for him to play around with. We took the kids to the mall playground for some fun.

This is how Ethan enjoyed the mall playground. Our brave (note the sarcasm) boy.

On Wednesday, I had New Beginnings! This will be the last year of Personal Progress as we know it now because the Church announced it will be changing things for the next year. So we wanted to get the girls excited about finishing up their Personal Progress so we had a Personal Progress Pep Rally! Cyrena Grimm had been a cheerleader in high school, so she brought her old uniforms as decoration and we also painted signs on butcher paper. Our refreshments were Tail gate party themed with Churros, popcorn, and Pop. We must've had some sort of dessert too, but I can't remember and somehow I don't have pictures of it! I gave a "pep" talk about Personal Progress, all the leaders and some of the girls participated in a cheer about all the values that Cecily Nelson came up with (totally out of my comfort zone, but it was fun!). And the current Beehives introduced the new Beehives that are in now. It was a bit different, but I think it was fun and hopefully inspiring! I am going to finish mine by the end of the year!

Nate's parents went to the Northwest for Maycee's baptism so Cindy had to watch Kylie on the Friday that I worked and unfortunately, Kylie had diarrhea! So poor Cindy had to deal with that and I hadn't packed enough clothes for so many messes, so Kylie came home in some of Jillian's old clothes!

My mom came up and watched them the Monday and Tuesday. On one of those days, she took Logan to Boondocks for his Christmas present. They had a fun time!

That week was also Parent/Teacher Conferences, so Nate had to take off some work to watch the kids while I did those. At Logan's conference, Mrs. Ortiz showed us how much Logan is improving with his reading so we are really proud of him! And she has rarely had to contact us about his behavior (I think just twice the whole year) so we are so glad he is doing so much better in school. I think he just needed a bit more time to mature since he has a summer birthday. He's a young one.

Cute kids sitting in their chairs before bed (well, Ethan borrowed Logan's and Kylie's chairs since he doesn't have one)
